Acceptable Use Policy

You are responsible for using the Expo Website and Services in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and all of our Acceptable Use Policies. These policies may be updated from time to time and are provided below. For the purposes of our Acceptable Use Policies, your use of the Services includes participation in the Expo Community and other discussion forums.

User Safety

You may not, and agree that you do not, provide any content that

  • is unlawful, or advocates, promotes or assists any unlawful activity
  • degrades others on the basis of gender, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual preference, disability or other classification
  • is defamatory, libelous, or fraudulent
  • harasses or abuses another individual or group, including our employees, officers, and agents, or other users
  • threatens or incites violence toward any individual or group, or is intended to intimidate any individual or group
  • gratuitously depicts or glorifies violence, including but not limited to violent images
  • is inaccurate, deceiving, and likely to adversely affect the public interest (including but not limited to health, safety, election integrity, and civic participation)
  • is profane, obscene, sexually explicit, indecent, pornographic
  • exploits, harms, or attempts to exploit or harm minors in any way, such as exposing them to inappropriate content, asking them for personal information, or otherwise
  • restricts or inhibits any other user from using or enjoying the Services

Site Access and Safety

You may not access or use, or attempt to access or use, the Website and Services to take any action that could harm Expo, its providers, or any other third party, or to interfere with the operation of the Website and Services.

For example, and without limitation, you may not

  • allow any other person to use the Service under your account, or otherwise transfer your access to the Services to any third party
  • use the Services as the basis for developing a competitive solution (or contract with a third party to do so)
  • take any action that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on Expo’s network, infrastructure, or bandwidth, including, without limitation, abuse of or excessively frequent requests to Expo via the Services, as determined in Expo’s sole discretion
  • use any device, software, or routine to interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Services or any activity conducted on the Services, including uploading or disseminating any virus, adware, spyware, worm, or other malicious code, or attempt to probe, scan, test the vulnerability of, or breach the security of any system or network
  • attempt to decipher, decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer any of the software comprising or in any way making up a part of the Services
  • expose, in Expo’s sole judgment, Expo or any of Expo’s users, affiliates, or any other third party to any liability, damages, or detriment of any type, including causing damage to Expo’s reputation

Information Usage Restrictions

You may not, and agree that you do not

  • engage in unauthorized “crawling,” “scraping,” or harvesting of content or personal information, or use any other unauthorized automated means to compile information available through the Services
  • use information from the Service (whether scraped, collected through our API, or obtained otherwise) for spamming purposes, including for the purposes of sending unsolicited emails to users or selling personal information, such as to recruiters, headhunters, and job boards.

Advertising

The primary focus of the content posted in or through your account to the Services should not be advertising or promotional marketing. This includes, but without limitation, content posted in or through EAS Hosting, EAS Update, and all other parts of the Service.

You may not promote or distribute content or activity that is illegal or otherwise prohibited by our Terms or Acceptable Use Policies, including excessive automated bulk activity (for example, spamming), get-rich-quick schemes, and misrepresentation or deception related to your promotion.

If you decide to post any promotional content using your account, you are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including without limitation the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guidelines on Endorsements and Testimonials.

Expo reserves the right to remove any promotional materials or advertisements that, in Expo’s sole discretion, violate any of our terms or policies.

Spam and Inauthentic Activity

You may not, and agree that you do not

  • impersonate any person or entity or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation or the origin of any materials that form part of your user content, or falsify any information provided during registration of your account
  • distribute any unauthorized materials or advertise or promote goods or services through the Services without Expo’s permission (including, without limitation, by uploading, posting, hosting, or sending unsolicited email, SMSs, “spam” messages, or any other similar solicitation)

Intellectual Property, Authenticity and Private Information

You may not, and agree that you do not, provide any content that

  • infringes, misappropriates, or otherwise violates any intellectual property or other proprietary or legal rights (including rights of privacy or publicity) of any third party
  • impersonates any person, or misrepresents your identity or affiliation with any person or organization
  • gives the impression that it comes from or is endorsed by Expo or any other entity or third party, if that is not the case
  • violates the privacy of any third party, such as by posting another person's personal information without consent

Services Usage Restrictions

You may not use the Services in a service bureau, outsourcing, renting, sublicensing, or time-sharing capacity, including to build or deploy apps for third parties, or otherwise reproduce, duplicate, copy, distribute, rent, sell, or resell the Services without our express written permission.

The Service's bandwidth limitations vary based on the features you use. If we determine your bandwidth usage to be significantly excessive relative to other users of similar features on similar plans, we reserve the right to suspend your account, throttle your file hosting, or otherwise limit your activity in order to prevent unreasonable burden on our infrastructure.

Free Plan

We offer a Free Plan at our sole discretion. You shall use the Services under a Free Plan only for pre-revenue startups, proof of concepts, and hobby and student projects.

All commercial projects with >$1,500 USD in monthly revenue are required to be on a paid plan.

Examples of commercial projects include, but are not limited to, apps that

  • request and process payment
  • advertise a product or service
  • involve affiliate marketing

Asking for donations is not considered commercial use.

We may change the terms and conditions applicable to the Free Plan or discontinue offering the Free Plan at any time.
